Agents can receive a series of push notifications when using 89µãÔõôÍæ software. The notifications let them know what is currently happening with their chats and visitors.

What are push notifications?

A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device or desktop without the recipient needing to open an app or website. Apps, websites, or services send these notifications to inform users about new content, updates, or events. They work on Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS, and other systems. Push notifications are a powerful tool for businesses to engage with customers and keep them informed about their products or services.

There are six different push notifications in the 89µãÔõôÍæ app:

• New messages – you received a new message from a visitor
• Incoming chats – a visitor has started a new chat
• New tickets to handle – you received a new ticket that requires your attention

• Visitors in the queue – a visitor has entered your chat queue
• New visitors – a new visitor has entered your website
• Returning visitors – someone who has already visited your website came back

Editing push notification preferences

To configure notifications, click on your profile picture in the bottom-left corner of the screen and select Notification preferences. The notifications window will open up.

You can select which notifications you’d like to be pushed by marking the checkboxes next to them. The New messages notification is always enabled (unless all notifications are muted) while other notifications can be disabled.

To disable a push notification, uncheck the box next to it and select the Save button.

Mute sound notifications

If you’d like to keep the visual notifications but you want to get rid of the sounds, you can uncheck the box next to the Notification sound option.

Mute sound notifications on mobile

To turn off the sound notifications from 89µãÔõôÍæ on your mobile, you need to access the device notifications settings.

On iOS, go to Settings and access the Notification Center. Next, you need to find and choose the 89µãÔõôÍæ app from the list. Finally, you can turn off the sound using the radio button.

On Android, you simply need to access the sound settings and turn down the Notifications.

Repeat the notification sound for new messages

You can set up a repeating sound for New messages. The alert will be played in a loop until the message has been read. To turn on this option, check the box next to Repeat New message sound until message is read.

Change notifications sound

Changing notifications sounds is possible on desktop application only. Download the app here.

Expand the drop-down next to the notification type you’d like to modify. Select the sound from the drop-down or upload your own sound file.

Configuring notifications in Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox

In order to get 89µãÔõôÍæ push notifications, you need to enable them in the browser you are using. Below you can find tutorials for:

Safari

In order to enable app notifications you need to:

1. Click on your profile picture in the bottom left corner and select Notifications preferences.

2. Click on the Enable notifications button.

3. Allow “my.livechatinc.com” to show alerts.

In order to change the existing push permissions you need to:

1. Go to Safari → Preferences.

2. Select the Websites tab.
3. Choose the Notifications section from the list on the left.

4. Click on the dropdown on the right to switch between Allow/Deny (permission to send notifications).

Google Chrome

To enable push notifications and get alerts in Google Chrome you simply need to:

1. Click on the lock icon (positioned next to the url bar) - a window will pop up.
2. Change Notifications to Allow.

In the same window, you can change Notifications back to Deny if you no longer want to receive 89µãÔõôÍæ app notifications in browser.

Mozilla Firefox

To enable web push notifications follow these steps:

1. Click on the lock icon positioned next to the URL bar.
2. Next, click on the rightwards arrow.

3. Then, click on More information.
4. Select the Permissions tab.
5. Find Receive notifications on the list, and make sure that the Use Default box is unchecked.
6. Finally, select Allow.

If you no longer want to receive 89µãÔõôÍæ notifications in the browser, select Block in the same window.

Troubleshooting double notifications when using Firefox on Mac OS X

If you’re using Firefox on Mac OS X, you might want to disable the native OS X notifications for Firefox to avoid notifications doubling. Firefox adds a sound to each web app notification, which makes it hard to distinguish the notifications from one another.

Here is how to disable native OS X notifications:

1. To disable the Firefox notification sounds, go to your System Preferences and select Notifications.

2. Select Firefox from the list.
3. Uncheck the Play sound for notifications option. This way only the 89µãÔõôÍæ notification sounds will be played.
